The ZeroMold Biostatic Fogging System

Proprietary Mold Remediation System

ZeroMold’s biostatic fogging system is designed to address one of the most overlooked aspects of mold problems: airborne mold spores. While visible mold is often what homeowners notice first, microscopic spores circulate through the air and settle throughout a structure long before mold becomes visible.

This page explains how our biostatic fogging works, why it’s different from traditional treatments, and how it fits into ZeroMold’s complete mold remediation system.

How Biostatic Fogging Works

Our biostatic solution is applied using specialized equipment that atomizes the liquid into ultra-fine particles. These particles remain suspended in the air long enough to move throughout the space, reaching areas traditional surface treatments cannot—including cracks, crevices, porous materials, and hidden voids.

Rather than simply settling to the ground, the fog actively interacts with airborne mold spores, allowing the treatment to work throughout the entire airspace.

Why Mold Spores Absorb the Solution

Mold spores are protected by a hard outer shell. Many traditional treatments attempt to destroy spores by burning through that shell using harsh chemicals. ZeroMold uses a fundamentally different approach.

Our biostatic solution is eco-friendly and food-grade, allowing it to act as a perceived water and nutrient source to the mold spore. When spores encounter the solution, they open their protective shell and absorb it.

Once inside, the solution dissolves the spore from the inside out, neutralizing it without leaving behind harsh residues or dead particulate matter that can continue to trigger allergic reactions.

What “Biostatic” Means

The term biostatic refers to a biological process influenced by attraction at a microscopic level.

During fogging, the solution carries a slight static attraction that helps draw airborne spores toward it. This improves contact between the treatment and the spores, increasing effectiveness throughout the air.

Unlike traditional fogging methods that simply force particles out of the air temporarily, the ZeroMold process is designed to neutralize spores, not just move them.

Safe, Food-Grade Ingredients

ZeroMold’s biostatic solution is carefully balanced for both effectiveness and safety. The ingredients are food-grade and designed to break down naturally after treatment, making the process safe for people, pets, and sensitive environments.

The complete formula is a trade secret, but some of the core components include:

  • Distilled Water

  • Hydrogen Peroxide Solution

  • Essential Oil Blend (Tea Tree & Thyme)

The effectiveness of the ZeroMold system does not come from any single ingredient. It comes from how the solution is balanced, atomized, and applied as part of a controlled, professional remediation process.

After treatment, the solution leaves no noticeable residue and primarily breaks down into water and oxygen.

Why This Differs From Traditional Fogging

Many fogging methods rely on harsh chemicals that attempt to burn through the mold spore’s outer shell. While these approaches may temporarily reduce airborne counts, they often:

  • Leave chemical residues

  • Create strong odors

  • Kill spores without neutralizing allergenic material

  • Produce misleading short-term air test results

Any fogging process will temporarily remove particles from the air, which can make test results appear improved. ZeroMold’s biostatic approach goes further by neutralizing spores, not just forcing them to settle.

Fogging Is One Part of a Complete System

Biostatic fogging alone is not mold remediation.

At ZeroMold, fogging is just one component of a complete remediation system, which includes:

  • Professional inspection and assessment

  • Moisture source identification

  • Containment and airflow control

  • Selective demolition when necessary

  • Surface mold treatment

  • Biostatic air treatment

  • Final verification and prevention guidance

Our results come from proper sequencing and experience, not from a single product or shortcut.

Why Experience Matters

The effectiveness of biostatic fogging depends on:

  • Correct particle size

  • Proper timing within the remediation process

  • Controlled airflow conditions

  • Knowing when fogging is appropriate—and when it isn’t

This is why ZeroMold emphasizes training, experience, and system-based remediation rather than one-step solutions.
